Ladder Rules

1. FATP membership is required for participation on the ladders.

2. This year's ladder season begins on 1st of June 2019 and ends on 31st of October 2019.

3. Season will be concluded with a ladder tournament for the top 8 players to select 2019 winner & runner up. We will also have a consolation tournament for the next 8 players.

4. To be eligible for ladder & consolation tournaments, you must participate in ONE challenge by end of June and FIVE total challenges by the end of the season. Main tournament winner & runner up will be awarded with a trophy and highlighted in the website.

5. All Tennis Patron members are eligible for ladder play, but must challenge a current ladder member to be placed on the ladder.

6. New ladder members may have two challenges for any position on the ladder at the beginning of the season (by July 31st). Members joining after July 1st have one challenge for any position on the ladder. If the new member loses their challenges, then they are placed at the bottom of the ladder.

7. All members may use one free challenge to challenge any position on the ladder during the first 30 days of the ladder season.

8. After using your free challenge(s), you may challenge up to 5 places above you.

9. A challenged player has a maximum of 3 days to respond to the challenger to arrange a match and one week to play the match or default. Until the match is played, neither player may play another challenge match.

10. The player challenged will choose a site of play acceptable to the challenger. The challenger shall provide the tennis balls.

11. All matches are to be the best 2 of 3 sets with a 12-point tie-breaker at 6-all, unless both players agree to a different format prior to the match. Any match within ladder rules and satisfying the above requirements may be reported as a ladder match. Matches interrupted due to weather should be completed within 10 days.

12. If you challenge and win, your name is moved into the place of your
opponent and he/she drops one position. If you challenge and win by
default, your opponent is moved below your current position in the ladder (i.e. you will be ahead of your opponent but not ahead of those ladder members in between you and your opponent). The ladder committee will allow both you and your opponent to provide information prior to awarding a 'default' to either player.

13. If you challenge and lose, you must wait two weeks to re-challenge the same player. If you are challenged and lose, you may re-challenge after one week.

14. Any ladder member not participating in a ladder match during a full calendar month will be dropped 5 places on the ladder, exceptions can be made at the discretion of the ladder committee. This will typically be done only due to injury with a limit of an additional two weeks of inactivity.

15. The winner of a ladder match must report the results within 24 hours of the match.
